  • 500 g ground beef Can substitute with ground turkey or chicken
  • 1 tbsp oil For cooking
  • 1 100 g onion, chopped Adds flavor
  • 150 g crushed pineapple, drained Make sure to drain well
  • 200 ml tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ginger
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Method
 

Cooking
  1. In a large pan, heat the oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the ground beef and chopped onion. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is softened.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds to enhance the flavor.
  4. Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, soy sauce, brown sugar, and ginger. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
  5. Add the drained crushed pineapple to the pan. Stir and let the mixture cook for a few more minutes.
  6. Let it simmer for 10 to 12 minutes until the sauce thickens and all the flavors meld together.
  7. Serve the sweet Hawaiian sloppy joes on fresh buns.

Notes

For an extra touch, you can add some slices of fresh pineapple or a sprinkle of sesame seeds on top. Pairs well with coleslaw, potato chips, or a simple salad.
