  • 6 slices slices of bread (Texas toast or your choice) Use stale bread to prevent sogginess.
  • 4 slices of ham
  • 4 slices of turkey
  • 4 slices of Swiss cheese Feel free to substitute with cheddar or provolone.
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar Plus extra for dusting before serving.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Butter for greasing Use to grease the baking dish.
  • Jam for serving Any favorite jam can be used.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Layer half of the bread slices in the baking dish.
  3. Top the bread with ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese.
  4. Add the remaining bread slices on top.
  5. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, powdered sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon.
  6. Pour the egg mixture over the layered sandwich.
  7. Allow it to soak for about 15 minutes.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the custard is set and the top is golden.
  2. Dust with additional powdered sugar and serve with warm jam.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat individual portions in the microwave or oven until heated through. This casserole pairs well with fresh fruits or a light salad.
