Ingredients
  

For the Muffins
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
For the Filling
  • 6 sausage patties (cooked and flattened)
  • 6 eggs (scrambled or fried)
  • 6 slices American cheese
Optional Add-ins
  • Sharp cheddar cheese for a stronger flavor
  • Turkey sausage for a lighter option
  • Drizzle of hot honey for a sweet-spicy twist

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a muffin tin.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add in the milk, egg, melted butter, and maple syrup. Stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  4. Cook your sausage patties in a skillet until they are browned. Drain any excess grease and flatten them slightly.
  5. Scramble or fry the eggs according to your preference.
Assembly
  1. Spoon a layer of muffin batter into each muffin cup.
  2. Add a sausage patty, a portion of egg, and half a slice of cheese on top of the batter.
  3. Cover with additional batter until each muffin cup is just filled.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 18–20 minutes or until the muffins are golden brown and puffed.
  2. Let the muffins cool slightly before taking them out of the tin and serving.

Notes

Serve warm for the best flavor! These can be enjoyed as is or with a drizzle of extra maple syrup or hot honey. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
