Crispy Chicken Wonton Tacos

A fun and tasty twist on traditional tacos with crispy wonton wrappers, tender chicken, and fresh coleslaw.

Ingredients
  

Chicken and Marinade
  • 2 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil (divided) 1/2 tbsp for marinating, 1/2 tbsp for coleslaw
  • 1 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
Coleslaw
  • 2 cups coleslaw mix (cabbage and carrots)
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp honey
Taco Assembly
  • 12 pieces wonton wrappers
  • 2 tbsp sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp chopped cilantro

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Marinate the chicken with teriyaki sauce, 1/2 tbsp sesame oil, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger for 10 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Cook the chicken in a skillet over medium heat until done, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Lightly fry the wonton wrappers in oil for 20-30 seconds per side until crispy.
Assembly
  1. In a bowl, toss coleslaw mix, green onions, rice vinegar, honey, and the remaining sesame oil.
  2. Fill each wonton with chicken and coleslaw, then drizzle with sweet chili sauce.
  3. Garnish with sesame seeds and cilantro.

Notes

Serve these crispy tacos on a platter for sharing. You can add extra sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, or lime wedges on the side.
