Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 500 g ground beef or lean ground beef or ground turkey for a healthier option
  • 1 small onion, chopped (about 100 g)
  • 250 ml canned tomato sauce
  • 200 ml water
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste (about 30 g)
  • 1 tbsp vinegar (about 15 ml)
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar (about 12 g, adjust for sweetness)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Method

Cooking
  1. In a skillet, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion over medium heat until fully cooked.
  2. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
  3. Add the canned tomato sauce, tomato paste, and water to the skillet.
  4. Stir in the vinegar, brown sugar, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  5. Allow the mixture to simmer for 15 to 20 minutes, or until it thickens up to your liking.
  6. Serve the mixture on buns and enjoy!

Notes

Best served hot on soft hamburger buns. Pairs well with coleslaw, potato chips, or a fresh salad. Optional toppings include sliced pickles or jalapeƱos for extra flavor.
