Ingredients
  

For the French Toast
  • 1 loaf loaf of brioche or challah bread Can substitute with any type of bread
  • 4 large large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar for topping

  • Fresh berries For serving
  • Whipped cream For serving

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Slice the brioche or challah bread into thick slices.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  3. Arrange the bread slices in a greased baking dish and pour the egg mixture over them, ensuring all pieces are soaked.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for the best results.
Baking
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Remove the dish from the refrigerator and sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the top.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes or until golden and set.
  4. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Optionally, serve with fresh berries or whipped cream.

Notes

Best served warm. Add a dusting of powdered sugar, fresh berries, or a dollop of whipped cream on top for extra flavor. Pairs well with coffee or tea. Can store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Reheat in the microwave or oven.
