Ingredients
  

For the Coating
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar Adjust based on taste preference.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Adjust based on taste preference.
  • Nonstick cooking spray
For the Apples
  • 2 large apples Honeycrisp or Granny Smith recommended.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Peel the apples if desired and cut them into fry-like sticks. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
Coating Stations
  1. In the first bowl, add the flour.
  2. In the second bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.
  3. In the third bowl, mix the panko breadcrumbs, sugar, and cinnamon.
Coat Apples
  1. Dredge each apple stick in the flour, dip it in the egg mixture, and then coat it well with the breadcrumb mixture.
Air Fry
  1. Lightly spray the coated apple fries with nonstick spray and place them in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Work in batches if needed.
  2. Air fry at 380°F (190°C) for 7–9 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through for even crispiness.
Serve
  1. Enjoy the apple fries warm with your choice of caramel dip, yogurt, or whipped cream.

Notes

For the best texture, choose firm apples. Remember to pat the sticks dry to help the coating stick. Don’t overcrowd the basket for even cooking. You can adjust sugar and cinnamon to your liking.
