Crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside—these Air Fryer Mozzarella Sticks are the ultimate cheesy snack. Perfectly golden without deep frying, this recipe is quick, easy, and ideal for game nights or appetizers.
12 mozzarella sticks (string cheese)
2 large eggs
1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
½ cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
Cooking spray
1 tablespoon grated Parmesan (optional)
Marinara sauce for dipping
1. Freeze mozzarella sticks for 30 minutes until firm.
2. Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with seasonings.
3. Coat each frozen stick in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs. Repeat for a double coating for extra crispiness.
4. Preheat air fryer to 380°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.
5. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and arrange sticks in a single layer without touching.
6. Air fry for 6–8 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden and crispy.
7. Serve immediately with warm marinara sauce.
For best results, keep sticks frozen before cooking to prevent cheese leakage.
You can also use panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch.
Reheat leftovers at 350°F for 3 minutes to re-crisp.
